This car has lapped the fabled Nürburgring-Nordschleife in a blistering 7:18 and marks the “absolute climax” in the history of the 911 range as the fastest, most powerful, street-legal Porsche yet.
Power is up by 67 kW to 462 kW, while weight is down by 70 kg to give this GT a stupefying power-to-weight ratio of 2.21 kg/kW.
Porsche’s hard working 3.6-litre six-cylinder boxer engine gets the benefit of twin turbochargers to drive power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
Mighty sports tyres with a 325/30 ZR 19 configuration have been developed especially for the GT2 RS and help propel the car from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. Top end is a scary 330 km/h and incidentally, GT2 RS hits the 200 km/h- and 300 km/h-mark in 9.8 and 28.9 seconds, respectively, Porsche claims.
Of course, all this power means nothing if it can't be reined in and GT2 RS comes with ultra-high performance composite ceramic brakes.
The car’s dynamic abilities are bolstered by PASM Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management, anti-roll bars, dynamic engine mounts and Porsche’s stability management programme.
By appearances, the RS stands out from the “regular” GT2 version with its generous use of carbon fibre components, wider wheels and the resultant flared wheel arches and new light alloys, and GT2 RS decals on the doors and rear lid. Upgraded front and rear spoilers use carbon fibre reinforced components.
Inside the predominantly black cabin, finished with drippings of red alcantara, RS is overly sporty with its lightweight carbon fibre reinforced bucket seats and lightweight door panels.
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS makes its world debut at the Moscow Motor Show on August 25. Production is limited to just 500 units.
