Hi everyone,
Ok, this is for those of you who have a dog/puppy that has never had a collar and never walked on a leash.
the first time you put a collar and leash on a pupp/dog, you will find out that the dog/puppy will fight and pull and squeal to get free, and alot of people panic and choose to take it off. Dont!
1. First you put the collar only on the dog. And once it is on, leave the dog to walk around and do its own thing. This shouldn't take long at all, about 15 minutes or so.
2. Then once the dog is comfortable with the collar on, attach the lead, and let the dog walk around with the lead dragging behind it. let this happen for about 5-15 minutes.
3. Then pick up the lead and take a step back, the dog will most probably start to pull and try get free, so then kneel down, and very excitedly call your dog to you.
4. When the dog gets to you, praise it big time. Do this a few times.
5. After doing that for a few times, stand up, and start to walk, pat your leg and encourage the dog to walk with you, praising it when it is walking with you.
After doing this a few times, the dog will be comfortable with the coller and the leash, and will start to get really excited when you take the leash out.
Remember one thing. Once the dog is used to walking on a leash. DO NOT WALK AT THE DOGS PACE, THE DOG MUST WALK AT YOUR PACE. Reason being, it shows that you are the alfa dog in the pack.

after the first one died we realized our faults so if we tie them to the bakkie we make sure the rope isnt long enough for them to jusmp off. but our worker couldnt understand this theory and still tied the rope with lots of give. so the next dog hung himself. was so peeved coz we told him!!!!!!! anyway, i do the job personally now.
