A swimming pool has four faucets (taps). The first can fill the entire pool with water in two days, the second – in three days, the third – in four days, and the last one can fill the pool in 6 hours.
How long will it take to fill the pool using all 4 faucets together?

I'm bored ok Embarassed

My thought process was weird, don't expect a logical solution if I have to show how I worked it out (if I'm correct)

I think I know how you got there...

Using the fractions... as in dividing it into an hourly fraction (ie 1/48?) I have the whole office sitting here collectively working this out.

Travel agents are NOT mathematicians.

Well my thought process -

Tap 1 = 48hours
Tap 2 = 72hours
Tap 3 = 96hours
Tap 4 = 6hours

Divide by 6 and you get T1 = 8, T2 = 12, T3 = 16 T4 = 1

Since they are all running at once, we need to work out each percentage of water each tap is pumping out

T1 = 100/8 is 12.5% T2 = 100/12 is 8.33333333% T3 = 100/16 = 6.25% T4 = 100%

Add T1, T2 and T3 and minus from T4 = 72.9166667%

100/72.9166667 = 1.3714285708016326533478250727553 - rounded off is 1.37143
6-1.37143 (because it's not possible for all taps to take longer than T4 by itself) = 4.63 (rounded again)

0.63 or 63% of an hour = 37.8

0.8 or 80% of a minute = 48

Thus 4h37m48s
